The Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel (VSPChannel) is proud to announce

the creation of the new Austin Veteran Arts Festival (AVAFEST) Film Festival

2024. The AVAFEST Film Festival 2024 is sponsored by the VSPChannel and

seeks to uplift the art of filmmaking and video production by veterans, military

personnel and their families. The goal is to inspire them to create films and

videos as a means of healing and entertaining others. The AVAFEST Motto is

“USING THE ARTS TO HELP HEAL VETERANS, MILITARY PERSONNEL and

THEIR FAMILIES.”

Filmmaking and viewing films have been instrumental in helping veterans and

others to understand many of the important aspects of life. As an art form,

filmmaking is a new frontier for healing veterans. AVAFEST wants to empower

and encourage our participants to tell their stories and the stories of other

veterans in a way that is entertaining, yet healing. The stories of family members

are equally important because they are the ones most often affected when loved

ones who have served in the military return home as civilians.

Tell the stories from your imagination or real-life experiences in the form of short

films, documentaries, feature films and music videos. By providing important

information, history and therapies in an innovative and entertaining way, our

AVAFEST Film Festival can be both enlightening and unforgettable.

Every filmmaker whose film is selected will receive a laurel that recognizes them

as an accomplished filmmaker whose work was accepted into AVAFEST

VETERAN/MILITARY Film Festival 2024. Submit your project today at the
